Mindfulness and Meditation

Registration includes admission for the birthing person and one support person.
Partners are strongly encouraged to attend all classes!

 

This 3-week series is designed to supplement a childbirth class or to support families who have previously experienced birth. Over the course of the sessions, participants will learn the differences between mindfulness and meditation techniques, breathing exercises for relaxation, and comfort strategies that complement visualization, meditation, and guided imagery. These skills can help reduce anxiety and support the birthing family—regardless of preferences for medication or medical interventions.

While having a labor support person is strongly encouraged, those without one will still benefit from the techniques and information shared.

This class is intended as a supplement; a traditional childbirth class such as a Prepared Childbirth Series or Super Childbirth Preparation class should be taken in addition. Participants with previous birth experience are not required to take additional childbirth classes.
